Transforming Higher Education from the Global South
The International Office of Sustainability (OIS) is a collaborative initiative between universities in Colombia, Ecuador and Germany. We empower administrative staff, faculty and researchers to integrate real sustainability at the heart of universities in Colombia, Ecuador and Germany.
Our Philosophy
At OIS, we understand sustainability under a fundamental principle: the right of people and nature to live in balance.
We do not limit ourselves to theory.
We work to consolidate a concept of sustainability that respects the realities, epistemologies and distributive justice of the Global South, integrating local voices to address global challenges.
Our Lines of Action
Training and Education
Courses and workshops designed specifically for university managers and administrators, providing them with tools to lead more efficient campuses.
North-South Cooperation Network
We connect universities in Germany and Latin America, facilitating an equal exchange of knowledge where the Global South has its own voice.
Knowledge Management
We compile and publish Best Practice Guides in Spanish and English, documenting success stories to replicate effective solutions.
Institutional Consulting
Technical support to integrate the SDGs in a cross-cutting manner in teaching, research and administrative operations.
Sustainability in Action
Theory comes to life through the projects led by our partner universities:
Insects for Peace (U. Nacional):
Circular bioeconomy and food security.
Participative Aquaponics (U. of Antioquia):
Sustainable models for local communities.
Sustainable Management (U. Andina Simón Bolívar)
Innovation in educational processes.
